What is a Registered Dietitian?

Registered Dietitians collaborate with you to embrace food, understand it and enjoy it!  Dietitians help to optimize your nutrition to aid in the prevention and management of chronic diseases, improve sport performance, assist with weight loss, improve work productivity, address paediatric and adult nutrition issues, help with eating disorder recovery and improve overall health and wellness.

Dietitian vs Nutritionist?

A Dietitian is different than a Nutritionist. To use the title Registered Dietitian (RD), Dietitians must be registered with their provincial regulatory body and undergo comprehensive and rigorous training, both on the job and in university.  Dietitians have completed a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university program, completed an internship and passed all examinations.  Dietitians are held accountable to the highest standards of education and ethics, which means they look beyond fads and gimmicks to deliver reliable, evidence-based advice.  Dietitians are trained to translate scientific evidence into practical solutions for everyday life.

At Ortho PT, we offer in-person nutrition consultation by a Registered Dietitian at our clinic in Barrie Ontario, as well as virtual nutrition therapy to best meet the needs of our clients.
